Frequently Asked Questions

Can I help with anything?

Yes, you can! This is our national course so we need all hands on deck to make it happen, and it is so much fun to work together. Please indicate your wishes and willingness to help out in the comment of your registration form.

We will also need help with build-up before and take-down after the course. May 29-June 2 is the final build-up phase, and June 8-9 is the take-down phase. Participation in these extra days needs to be noted in your main course registration.

For those who would like to additionally come earlier and/or stay later than those dates, please make arrangements by sending an email to wrc@diamondway.org.

What to bring?

  • Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag and mat, pillow)
  • Clothing for hot days and cool nights
  • Closed-toe hiking shoes
  • Flashlight, headlamp, towel, water bottle or thermos, sun screen
  • Meditation cushion

What about parking and lodging?

There will be plenty of camping space, outdoor toilets, and hot-water showers. If you plan to camp, please bring your tent and camping gear. We also might have some extra tents, so please let us know on your registration form if you'd like to rent one.

There will also be enough space to park the RVs and camper vans, so please consider renting one for a more comfortable stay during the course. However, we are not able to provide electrical, propane or water hook-ups for such vehicles. Additionally, there will be plenty of space to park your rented or personal cars and SUVs. Please indicate if you're renting a car or RV during your online registration.

Please let us know if due to health-related issues you must have a bed or indoor accommodations - we'll have some limited options to meet your needs.

Can I stay before/after course?

You are very welcome to do so. May 29-Jun 2 is the final build-up phase, and June 8-9 is the take-down phase. Participation in these extra days needs to be  noted in your main course registration.

For those who would like to additionally come earlier and/or stay later than those dates, please make arrangements by sending an email to wrc@diamondway.org.

Can I rent a tent?

Please try to bring your own tent, but in case it's absolutely impossible, please indicate that you would like to reserve a tent for the duration of the course during your registration process. We'll try to do our best to accommodate your needs, but they are 2-person tents only and the number is limited. Thus, tents will be reserved on a first-come first-served basis.

Can I bring kids?

WRC is a rugged retreat center with very few indoor spaces. It's varied terrain consists of diverse, mixed, and uneven physical features, with frequent changes in elevation, surface, and land type (hills, rocky areas, wooded and flat plains, canyons, etc.). The place abounds with wildlife, including different kinds of reptiles and insects. Most of them are not dangerous to adults, but could pose a threat to children. Thus, parents are expected to keep a watchful eye and be totally responsible for their children. Please plan to supervise and entertain your children at all times. Parents should coordinate amongst themselves, as there will be no childcare provided.

Please let us know names and ages of kids in the comment section of your registration from. For children aged 2-6, the course price is $15 per day. For kids aged 7-18, the course price is $30 per day.  In both cases, please note in the comment of your registration form, and pay on site.

What if I need help with transportation?

Depending on the interest, we may provide the official course shuttle transportation from San Jose and San Francisco airports at $120/person/round-trip. If you prefer this option to privately renting a car or an RV, please indicate it during the online registration. Based on your requests we'll determine the number of high-occupancy vans, and days/times of departure on the way to/from WRC, both before and after the course.

Additionally, you can use this Ride-Sharing Board to offer and request a ride with friends from and to the airport in private and rented cars.

What about the Internet?

There will be a Starlink Mini WiFi network arranged in the meditation tent, but we cannot guarantee high quality connection. Be prepared that the more people are on site, the harder it will be to connect to the internet with your phones, tablets or laptops. Ideally, please arrange your important online matters before the course and give yourself a rare gift of being "switched-off" for a few days.

Can I bring my dog?

No pets will be allowed at the WRC during the Nat'l course.
