Diamond Way Buddhist Center Calgary belongs to an international non-profit network of over 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.

Diamond Way Buddhism offers practical and effective methods to realize mind’s inherent richness for the benefit of all. With an accessible and modern style, it works with people’s confidence and desire, using every situation in life to develop fearlessness and joy. We always present a basic introduction for newcomers, and the meditations are guided in English.

Regular Program

We are currently open to the public, with some capacity limits. Masks are optional at this time.

To ensure safety for our guests and members: If you have Covid-19 symptoms, tested positive for COVID in the last 10 days, or have had close contact with COVID-19-positive individual within the last 2 weeks, please refrain from coming to the centre at this time.

Our weekly program begins with a short talk followed by a guided meditation. The regular meditation is the Guru Yoga meditation on the 16th Karmapa and is guided in English. Our program starts every Wednesday at 7:00pm and generally lasts around 45 minutes.

On the first Wednesday of each month, we host a longer introductory lecture followed by the regular meditation program. Everyone is welcome to join us on any regular program days.

RESOURCES FOR BEGINNERS

We have put together a beginner’s resource. It is intended to help you gain an insight into Diamond Way Buddhism, but under no circumstances can it replace the oral transmission required to properly begin Diamond Way meditation!
