Yeeeehaaa! Rodeo in San Benito

Some of us had fun at the Rodeo on Saturday, after the rodeo we had a great BBQ on the land. It was nice and warm on the land and we had a great time….

We bought it!

Dear Bay Area friends,

As you may know from the May Course in San Francisco Lama Ole was clear about wanting us to go ahead and buy Lot #4 next to Lot # 20 that we purchased on Jan 24th. The Karma Kunzang Ling team managed to negotiate some good terms and bring together a substantial amount of one time donations and with Caty and Lama Ole giving the green light, the DWB Foundation purchased it on June 2nd!

Phase 1- DEVELOPMENT for IMMEDIATE USE
In order to get the lower price on Lot # 4, $225,000, we also entered into a Development contract for $40-45 K with Whit, the seller for the next 9 to 12 months that will include the building of some the following additions:

– Grilling platform,including lattice for shade, grill, countertop and plumbed grey water sink
– Shower area/station with sinks and showers
– 3 platform decks for tents or cabin
– Water storage tank and installation
– Water storage tank platform
– Building of shaded amphitheater for teachings and gathering
– These items are still being negotiated and are not limited to the above

CONTINUING FUNDRAISING – Make Monthly Contributions!
We need as many monthly pledges as possible to contribute towards the payment of the development contract. Please donate if you can. This is perhaps the single most important action you can make right now to help grow the project, even if you only have $5 to spare!

WORK WEEK ON THE LAND: June 27th- July 5th
The development of these additions will be planned with our team so that we can make sure we’re building the things that are necessary and placed well for the long term. We will also be out there to help. On June 27th- July 5th we are planning to have time on the land to help implement some of these additions. You are more than welcome to join. More details about this will be coming soon.

COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING MEETING: Weekend of July 18th and 19th- SAVE THE DATE
At our Retreat Center Vision Meeting on March 22nd we decided to develop a well thought through and comprehensive plan before doing any more than the “phase one- immediate use” development listed above.
On the weekend of July 18th and 19th we invite everyone interested in this project to meet in San Francisco to help plan how we will manage, develop and financially support this project step by step into the future. More information will be coming soon about this Project development meeting.

We have tentative plans for the first course in August in conjunction with the 72 hour meditation at the EC. Please stay tuned!

We are looking forward to working together with all interested friends to make this beautiful land conducive to support our practice, receive teachings and strengthen our bonds of friendship through creating this Retreat Center together.
