Our Center

Our center is located in a permanently rented “artist studio” in downtown Seattle, on Western Avenue between Lenora St. and Blanchard St. It’s the door between the Elliott Bay bicycle store and Ewing and Clark (in the middle of the picture on the right, click it to zoom in), across the street from the World Market store. It’s about two blocks north from the Pike Place Market.

Driving tips

There are often parking spaces right in front of the center. After 8pm and on Sundays it’s free.

Public transport

Use King County Metro Trip Planner to find a public transportation route. Enter “2114 Western Ave” as the destination. If your bus stops in the Westlake tunnel (or vicinity), go west (towards the water/downhill) until you reach Pike Place Market, turn right (north) and go until you cross Lenora St, where Eliot Ave forks off Western Ave. Continue on Western (right), and our door is 100ft down Western on the right.

The last yard

On Wednesdays, a couple minutes before 8pm, there is someone waiting downstairs to let you in. If you come a little early or a little late, just use the door bell and someone will come down to get you. You can also call 206.452.1985 when you’re downstairs and we will let you in.

Program

We do a guided 16th Karmapa Meditation on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm, proceeded by a short introductory talk about Diamond Way and Buddhism in general. There is always someone in the center a couple minutes before 8:00. There is no need to call or email in advance but you’re, of course, free to do so.

In fact we do the same meditation Monday to Friday at 8pm, but Wednesday is our “main day” when everyone comes. Therefore, if it’s your first time to the Center it’s best to come on Wednesday (but feel free to come any other day!).

During weekends we meet to do so called personal practice, usually ngondro.

In case nobody from the Sangha can make it on a particular day, our home-page will have an announcement about it. We’re always there on Wednesday though!
