University of Washington, Guggenheim Lecture Hall

About Lama Ole Nydahl
Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah were the first western students of the H.H. 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. In a constant exchange with his students, Lama Ole teaches the goal and methods of Karma Kagyu Diamond Way Buddhism. His joyful way of living provides a glimpse of what anyone can achieve through direct experience of one’s own mind.
He has transmitted the blessing of the lineage, traveling as an authorized Lama and tirelessly teaching around the world in a different city nearly every day for over 30 years (his current teaching schedule). The depth of his knowledge and dynamic way of teaching inspire thousands of people at his lectures and retreats around the world. He has been a driving force in bringing Buddhism to the West. more
On Friday, September 30 at 7pm in Savery 130 at the University of Washington campus Daria Novoselova, a lay buddhist traveling teacher, will give a talk on Diamond Way Buddhism.
Diamond Way (Vajrayana – Skt.) is the crown jewel of the Buddha’s teachings. Working from the absolute level it employs methods of total identification with enlightenment for the quickest possible results. Since 1972, Lama Ole Nydahl has been been working to develop a modern approach to the Buddha’s teachings. Diamond Way Buddhist Centers USA is the culmination of that effort. Modern western education, stressing self-reliance and independent thought, has proven to be an excellent basis for realizing one’s mind. Through such capable groups the Buddha’s most effective teachings are being passed on to the most idealistic and independent people around the world.
Daria Novoselova was born in Novosibirsk, Russia. At 16 she met Lama Ole Nydahl on one of his yearly travels through Russia. After being involved with the local center work in Ekaterinburg, she moved to Toronto, Canada, and in 2001 she helped found the city’s first Diamond Way Buddhist center. In 2007, Daria moved to Seattle, where she now lives with her husband and is part of the local Diamond Way Center there. In 2006 at the wish of Lama Ole Nydahl, Daria began sharing teachings in our centers.
In late August we’ll be hosting Tasso Kallianiotis, a lay Buddhist teacher and a very long-time Lama Ole’s student. The course will be in our center in Seattle.
Note a change in the schedule – we start at 10am not 11am.
A single lecture/q&a session is $10. The course is $50, including food on Saturday evening. Meditation is, as usual, free :P
Tasso Kallianiotis has been a practicing Buddhist for 27 years. He is a close student of Lama Ole Nydahl with whom he took refuge in 1982 and has received teachings and transmissions from many high lamas of the Karma Kagyu lineage. In 1993, he started organizing and overseeing the activities of the Diamond Way center in New York City and at Lama Ole’s request, began teaching and introducing people to the methods of the Diamond Way. He now resides in Connecticut where he works as a software architect for a major corporation and spends the majority of his personal time teaching Buddhism and leading courses and retreats throughout North America and Europe. He has also given radio interviews and published articles on Diamond Way Buddhism.
