FAQ

Can new people attend the course?

Yes! We recommend visiting a Diamond Way Buddhist Center in your area before the course to get an introduction to the practice and participate in a guided meditation. Public meditation is offered at all of our centers on a weekly basis. Find a list of Diamond Way centers in the US at the bottom of the page here or a list of international centers here.

Can I sleep inside?

No. Space inside the cabin is very limited and reserved for Lama Ole and his team. You will need to sleep outside in a tent or rent your own room off-site. Visit the where to stay page for more info.

Can I park at HRC?

There is very limited parking space available at HRC, and therefore we have rented a parking lot 5 minutes away. Once you arrive, the parking shuttle will follow you to the parking lot to drop your car off and bring you back to HRC. There is a fee of $15 per car to park in the lot, so you can save money by carpooling with friends. For the few people who are renting a place to stay off-site, you will be able to park at HRC so you can come and go from your rental place throughout the course.

Should I worry about ticks?

No, you shouldn’t worry, you should simply be aware of the situation and take very simple precautions to avoid ticks. More details are available on our about ticks page.

What will the weather be like?

Our past courses have been warm during the day, cold at night, and often rainy. Please bring what you need to stay warm and dry!

Is there internet available at HRC for me to use during the course?

No. If you have a car, you can drive 10 minutes into town to a local restaurant to use the internet.

Is there cell phone service at HRC?

Sprint and US Cellular work well. Verizon works sometimes. AT&T and others do not work at all.

Is the course accessible to people with physical disabilities?

Course attendees will be walking up and down hills, and the toilets and showers are not wheelchair-accessible. If you have more detailed questions about the conditions, email hrc@diamondway.org.
