The Heartland Retreat Center

The Heartland Retreat Center preserves the living transmission of Diamond Way Buddhism. It is a place where our Buddhist practice deepens through meditation courses, personal retreats, gatherings of friends and more.

What is Buddhism?

Buddhism was founded by the Indian prince Siddhartha Gautama, who, at the age of 35, reached a state of lasting, limitless happiness – enlightenment. During 45 years of constant traveling, he encountered different kinds of people and gave general and specific advice for all life’s situations. Buddha’s teachings enable us to experience lasting happiness. By using suitable meditations, our theoretical knowledge turns into direct experience; additional methods secure attained levels of consciousness. The goal of Buddha’s teachings is the full development of body, speech and mind.

About Diamond Way Buddhism

The Diamond Way belongs to the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism, whose teachings come directly from the historical Buddha. Because of its practical approach, which is closely related to life, it is the most widespread form of Buddhism outside of the traditional Buddhist countries.
